The subway of the Chinese city of Shenzhen was opened in 2004. The total length of its routes today is nearly 180 kilometers, and 137 stations operate for the needs of passengers. In total, there are five operating lines in the Shenzhen Metro, each of which is marked on the city public transport routes with its own color. The operating company for the Shenzhen Metro is the Shenzhen Metro Company, SZMC. The very first line of the Shenzhen subway was the "green" line, which connected the Shijizhichuan and Luohu stations. There are 15 stations in total. Line 1 connects the eastern and western parts of the city.
Another popular line, number 4, is marked in red and links Shaonyangdong to Honggang. Its length is just over five kilometers, and five stations are open for the entry and exit of passengers on this route. The line crosses the city from north to south. Branch number 2 is marked in yellow on the diagrams. It stretches across the city from southwest to east and has 29 stations along the route. From it you can transfer to the "green", "blue", "red" and "purple" lines. The latter covers the northern part of Shenzhen and connects its east and west, passing in an arc through the northern outskirts.
The Shenzhen Metro first opened in December 2004, but construction is still ongoing. In 2011, two new lines were added to the first two lines. Their construction was timed to coincide with the opening of the World Universiade in the city.
The Shenzhen metro continues to develop, and its designers are planning several more lines, which will bring the total length of the branches to 360 kilometers.
All cars in the Shenzhen Metro are air-conditioned. Station announcements are made in Chinese and English. On the diagrams, the names are also duplicated in English.

The Shenzhen Subway opens for passengers to enter at 6.30 am and runs until 23.00. On weekends, the schedule is slightly lengthened, and trains can be used until midnight. The interval of movement of trains can reach from 5 to 17 minutes, depending on the time of day and direction.
