History

The airport in Murmansk began to be built in 1971, when the city ceased to cope with the traffic flow of people who came here to extract precious metals. 5 years later, in 1976, the airport was launched, but at that time it had only a runway and a control tower. The problem with the accommodation of passengers was solved a year later, when the airport building was completed.

When the development of the Kola Peninsula was curtailed in 1990, the airport's passenger traffic decreased markedly. The decline continued for 6 years, and only in 1996 flights were fully restored. Since that time, the annual number of passengers served has been steadily growing.

Today the airport in Murmansk serves more than half a million passengers a year and this figure is planned to double.

Public transport - buses and minibuses, will take the passenger to the railway station. The bus runs at intervals of 30-40 minutes, and the shuttle bus runs at intervals of 20 minutes. The cost of a trip by public transport is 100 rubles (bus) and 150 rubles (minibus).
