The airport in Perm is located eighteen kilometers from the center of the capital of the region, in the vicinity of the village of Savino, hence it got its official name "Perm (Bolshoye Savino)".

History
The civil aviation of the Perm Territory, including the airport in Perm, began at the time of the formation of the two hundred and seventh squadron in 1940.
Until 1957, the detachment, numbering 250 people and a fleet of 34 aircraft, was based at the Gorodskiye Gorki airfield.
In 1965, a new airport "Perm (Bolshoye Savino)" was opened on the basis of the airfield. His first flight was a flight on the route "Sverdlovsk - Moscow - Perm" by plane IL-18. In the same year, a new apron and aircraft stands were put into operation.
And in 1967, the ceremonial opening of the new terminal building, which is still functioning today, took place.
In 1993 the airport received international status. And today it connects the region with more than twenty cities of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries.
In the summer season, regular charter flights to the resorts of Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates and other tourist countries popular among Russians are made here.
