The international airport of the northern capital of Western Siberia is located nine kilometers from the central part of Surgut and is considered the largest air hub of the Khanty-Mansiysk autonomy, connecting the district with the cities of Russia.

More than ten of the country's largest airlines leave from here every day, but Utair remains one of the main companies here.

History

The airport in Surgut is one of the oldest airports in Russia.

Built in 1931, the airport was subordinate to the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route and was used mainly for official purposes. Only in 1938 the airport became part of Aeroflot.

After the Great Patriotic War, in the most difficult conditions, the airport had the opportunity to receive and service the newest, at that time, An-2 aircraft. Five of these aircraft were permanently deployed at the Surgut airport. Then it was considered a fairly large-scale event.

In 1964, as a result of the merger of two airports - Nizhnevartovsk and Surgutsk, a united Surgut squadron was created.

It included two seaports, several landing sites serving local lines, an unpaved runway and an old terminal building.

Since the beginning of the 60s, the aircraft fleet has been rapidly renewing itself. And in the 90s the sector was put into operation, which officially provided the airport with the status of International. And since the end of 2007, the automatic passenger registration system "Kupol" has been operating here.

Maintenance and service

At the services of arriving passengers at the Surgut airport, there are: a medical center, a point, a left-luggage office, a mother and child room, ATMs, a round-the-clock currency exchange office and a post office.

While waiting for the plane, you can spend time in a cafe and restaurant, or go shopping in the airport shops.

For recreation, there is a wonderful hotel "Polet". And near the airport there are many hotels with such poetic names as "Polaris" and "Blizzard", exotic "Bear's corner" and others.

There is a good transport interchange. There are four bus routes directly from the airport to different parts of the city, two minibus routes (including to Nefteyugansk - every 30 minutes) and just a taxi. The movement starts at 06.30 am and ends at 01.00 am. (Route taxis work until 21.00)

It should be noted that the prices for services in Surgut are slightly higher than in the cities of central Russia.
