Description of the attraction
The Casa Rull Ethnographic Museum is one of the famous cultural sights of Andorra, attracting tourists from all over the world. This institution is located in the village of Sispony, a few kilometers from La Massana.
To preserve the history of his country, Joseph Perish Pewiserco decided to give his old house Casa Rull for an ethnographic museum. This initiative was supported by local authorities.
At one time, Casa Rull's house, built in the 17th century, was one of the richest houses in the parish of La Massana. Due to the expansion of the family and the growth of its needs, the house was reconstructed and enlarged, balconies were added and the main facade was partially changed. In the XIX century. Casa Rull suffered from a fire, during which the attic rooms were severely damaged. But soon the house was renovated with partial changes to the layout.
The four-storey building of the Ethnographic Museum is rectangular in shape. The main facade of the museum is decorated with two canopies. An additional decoration of the house are the doors of the main entrance, decorated with an arch, and three small windows with wrought iron bars.
Initially, there was a balcony on the first floor of the house, but in the first half of the 20th century. it was dismantled and replaced with two French-style windows. The first floor was intended for utility rooms. It was here that a tool shop, a meat and wine cellar, and a kitchen with two ovens were located. Space has also been set aside for two bedrooms. A staircase climbed to the upper floors, under the steps of which there was a change house. On the second and third floors, there was a large hall, several bedrooms and bathrooms. The uppermost floors were for relaxation.
The preserved interior of the house allows you to feel the spirit of the country's past in the 17th - 18th centuries, as well as plunge into the life of this wealthy family.
