Description of the attraction

One of the attractions of the city of Lugansk is the Museum of History and Culture, which is located on K. Marx Street, 30 in the former building of the City Council. The Museum of History and Culture was founded in 1980 as the Museum of K. Voroshilov, after whom the city was called Voroshilovgrad in Soviet times.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the building, in accordance with the changing purpose, was repeatedly reconstructed. The first floor of the building was used for trade functions, a fire box was located on the roof, and a fire service was located in the courtyard. In the 30s. XX century there was a construction college. In the post-war period, the building housed a museum of local lore, and since 1977, the museum of K. Voroshilov. In 1990, the building of the former City Council was transferred to the Luhansk Museum of History and Culture.

The exposition of the city museum tells about the entire history of the city from the moment of its foundation (1795), and up to the October Revolution itself. The museum staff created temporary exhibitions dedicated to the life and work of the famous Soviet military leader, statesman and party leader K. E. Voroshilov, as well as certain times of the Soviet era.
