Description of the attraction

The Gonzalez Martí National Museum of Ceramics is located in the heart of Valencia, in the building of the palace of the Marquis de Dos Aguas.

The Palace of the Marquis de Dos Aguas is a magnificent building, originally built in the late Gothic style, then rebuilt in the Baroque style, with luxurious elements decorating the façade. This building, restored in the middle of the last century, is in itself a real value - historical and architectural and undoubtedly deserves special attention. The museum, located within the walls of the Palace, is also unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. Its splendid interiors, lavish furnishings and sumptuous décor are the perfect backdrop to the amazing collections presented here. It is worth noting that pottery was one of the handicrafts that brought glory to Valencia. The Museum of Ceramics has collected the best examples of this art, created by various craftsmen over a long period of time, starting in the 16th century.

The expositions presented in the Museum are located on an area of about 8 thousand square meters, and there are about 12 thousand magnificent works, each of which is a real work of art. These are household items, furniture, glass products, jewelry, leather decorative items. There are also carriages and a kitchen made entirely of ceramics. In addition, here you will also find paintings by the brilliant Picasso and will be able to visit the famous Lladro ceramics factory, where you yourself can follow all the stages of the complex production of ceramic products.
