Description of the attraction

In the resort town of Izmir, one of the most interesting places for recreation for the whole family is a rather large and beautiful Park of Culture and Leisure. It is located right in the center of the city and covers an area of about 30 hectares. Previously, there were Armenian and Greek quarters in its place, which were destroyed by a fire in 1922. Now the park is considered one of the greenest places in Izmir. There is a large number of palm trees, Mediterranean plants, exotic flowers. And the most beautiful object of the park is undoubtedly a large artificial lake with a picturesque island.

Tourists can find something to do in the Park of Culture and Rest at any time of the day. For fans of outdoor activities in the park, there are tennis courts, swimming pools, a mini golf course and a skydiving tower. Children can have fun in the many playgrounds and attractions. In addition, there is a small but interesting zoo.

A large number of various cafes and restaurants will pleasantly surprise vacationers with a wide range of dishes and drinks. Almost all of them work around the clock. On the territory of the park are the Agricultural and Archaeological Museums, a summer cinema and a small theater.

Since 1932, the International Izmir Trade Fair has been held in this park every year from August 20 to September 20. During this period of time, the city is especially crowded. In Turkey's foreign trade, Izmir is quite significant and ranks second after Istanbul. The fair attracts the attention of commercial and industrial circles in most countries of the world. Various goods are brought here from all over the world, various industries are presented here, trade agreements are concluded. Izmir Fair took pride of place among trade exhibitions and gained international status.

Initially, the fair was created to expand the exchange of goods between regions and cities within the country itself, to restore foreign trade, destroyed by a long-term war. She was supposed to introduce Turkish goods to foreign buyers and attract them to a local manufacturer. The first fair was timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the liberation of Izmir from the Greek invaders. Izmir Fair from the very beginning was an unprecedented success and met all the expectations of the organizers. For its implementation, special pavilions are built annually in the Park of Culture and Leisure. Along with the actual commercial fair to attract more visitors, various music festivals and cultural programs are traditionally held here.
