Description of the attraction

The Batak reservoir is a resort of the same name in the western part of the Rhodope, 8 kilometers from Batak and 24 kilometers from Velingrad. The reservoir is the third largest artificial reservoir in Bulgaria.

The resort itself is located in the ski town of Tsigov-Chark, near the shore of the reservoir. The average height is about 1 kilometer above sea level. Up to a mark of 1 kilometer, the climate can be attributed to the transitional-continental, in the mountainous and high-mountainous zones the climate has a pronounced mountainous character. Snow cover lasts 2-5 months in winter, making Batak an ideal ski resort.

The Batak reservoir is famous among experienced anglers for its excellent catch. The resort is located very close to Golyama-Syutka (height - 2186 meters), one of the Rhodope peaks. As a result, the resort offers opportunities for various hiking tours. In addition, in the summer, all conditions for active recreation are created at the reservoir: pedal boats, boats, jet skis, etc. For connoisseurs there is an opportunity to hunt - special hunting farms are equipped on the territory of the Batak municipality.

In winter, the reservoir attracts fans of steep turns and downhill skiing or snowboarding. The length of the ski trail in this area is 1.5 km. Its lower part is rather flat, which makes it ideal for beginners to master the slopes. There are also two towing cable cars operating here. In the upper part, the track is noticeably steeper and can be reached by a towing "plate" lift.

The resort area of the Batak reservoir includes hotels, villas and private houses.
