Description of the attraction

Chubuk is a city and region of Ankara province, located on the Central Anatolian plateau of Turkey, at an altitude of 891 meters, at the confluence of the Chubuk and Ankara rivers (Sakarya river basin).

This area is a flat plain 38 kilometers north of the city, towards Ankara airport. According to the 2000 census, the population of the district is 81,747 people, of which 76,716 people live in the city of Chubuk. The area covers an area of 1,362 square kilometers (526 sq mi) and an average elevation of 1,100 meters (3,609 feet). This area was inhabited by the Seljuk Turks back in the 14th century.

On November 3, 1936, the opening ceremony of the Chubuk reservoir in Ankara was held. Today, the fields lying in the area of the reservoir are irrigated by its waters and are famous for their pickles and cherries.

In spring and autumn, this place becomes a strategic resting point for many flocks of migratory birds.
