Description of the attraction

The feat of Claudia Nazarova, Filippova Lyudmila, Kozlovsky Alexander, Ivanova Anna, Serebryannikov Oleg, Sudakov Lev and Kornilyev Pavel is known throughout Russia. These people in their youth, literally from the first days of the fascist German occupation of the city of the Island, began to actively and effectively participate in the harsh struggle for the complete liberation of their native land.

Klavdia Ivanovna Nazarova became not only the organizer, but also the head of the Komsomol underground organization in the city of Ostrov temporarily occupied by the Nazis. This brave woman was born in the month of October 1920 in the Ostrov, in the family of a simple peasant. Klavdia graduated from ten classes, as well as the first year of the Institute of Physical Culture in the city of Leningrad. Then she worked in secondary school No. 5 as a senior pioneer leader, and during the occupation of the city of the Island by the Nazi invaders, as a worker in a sewing workshop.

Claudia Nazarova became a participant in the Great Patriotic War from the very beginning, that is, from 1941. She organized and led the Komsomol underground organization, the creation of which took place in 1941. The patriots of the Soviet Union distributed numerous leaflets in which they called on the citizens of the Island to show full resistance to the invaders, and also collected ammunition and weapons. Young Soviet underground fighters assisted in the rescue of more than fifty wounded prisoners of war and transferred the most valuable weapons and intelligence data to the partisan department.

The young underground fighters were able to establish contact with numerous partisans, collecting, processing and transmitting the most valuable and significant information about the enemy's location. A detachment of Klavdia Nazarova put the power plant out of action and burned down the building that housed the enemy's police department. At the place where the execution was carried out, there is now a memorial plaque.

In the fall of November, Claudia Ivanovna Nazarova was arrested by the fascist invaders. On December 12, 1942, the execution of the heroine by Hitler's executioners took place in the very center of the city - on the central square of the Island. From November 7 until the day of the execution, the German fascists kept the girl in a dungeon, after which they realized that they could not get a word out of her by any means, they decided to execute her publicly, right on the market square, in order to teach a lesson to all residents of the city. For three days, the Germans did not allow the girl's corpse to be removed from the gallows, but soon decided to bury her, hoping to track down the members of the organization. The funeral of Nazarova Claudia took place in her hometown.

The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued a decree of August 20, 1945, according to which, for the exemplary and proper fulfillment of all combat missions of the command in the rear of the fascist troops, as well as the courage and heroism shown during operations, Claudia Ivanovna Nazarova posthumously confer the honorary title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Also, Claudia Nazarova was awarded the Order of Lenin.

On May 19, 1963, a famous monument to a Soviet heroine was erected in the city of Ostrov under the direction of architect V. A. Bubnovsky and sculptor N. A. Strakhova.
