Description of the attraction
The memorial and tourist complex "Scythian Stan" today is one of the most interesting historical sites in Zaporozhye, located on the island of Khortytsya.
Many years ago on the island of Khortitsa there were a large number of mounds, about 30. The oldest of these mounds were poured in 2-3 millennia BC. Many of these kurgans were divided into 6 main groups, and these groups were located on the Scythian route itself. The Scythian route crosses the Khortitsa island in the middle: it starts from the Naumova gully, and ends with the flooded part of this island.
The fifth group of burial mounds was called "Scythian camp"; they were located at the highest point of the Khortitsa island, about 59 m above the level of the Dnieper river. The fifth group of mounds is the only group that has been restored and it is assumed that in this place our ancestors buried rich relatives and prayed for their peace to the gods.
From the very beginning, there were only three burial mounds, which have survived to this day. But archaeologists working in this memorial and tourist complex have put in order five more mounds. One of them was poured in the place where research had taken place earlier, two burial mounds appeared instead of two previously destroyed, and two were made as models. As conceived by historians, the next two mounds are planned to be made in the form of a stylized sanctuary of the ancient god of war Ares and in the form of a Cossack tower.
"Scythian Stan" is very famous not only for its historical heritage, but also for the beautiful view that opens from this famous place. Local residents believe that this place is a kind of energy source. Many people who visited this place later claimed that they began to feel much better, and some of them were cured of their illnesses.
