Description of the attraction

Orsha is an ancient Slavic city. It was first mentioned in the "Tale of Bygone Years" in 1067, however, the city is much older. There is information that on the territory of Orsha there was an ancient Slavic large association of the tribes of Arsania. Now Orsha is a large beautiful city that attracts many tourists with its museums and sights.

The Jesuit Collegium was founded in Orsha in 1590 by the Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Lev Sapieha. The famous educational institution existed until 1803. Now the collegium has been reconstructed, and the clock tower has also been restored. Today, the collegium houses museums and art galleries.

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1691 at the Holy Dormition convent. In the 18th century, the temple was rebuilt. In the 1960s, the Soviet authorities demolished the ancient church. In our time, the church has been completely restored on the previous foundation. The ancient St. Elias Church was originally built in 1460. An icon of Efrosinya of Polotsk is painted on one of the walls of the church.

The current Dominican Church of St. Joseph is a very unusual building for a Catholic church, located in the city square. The church was built in 1808.

Mlyn Museum - a restored wooden mill. This mill has stood at the confluence of the Dnieper and Orshitsa rivers since the city was founded. The first time the mill was reconstructed in 1903, the second time - now. Inside there is an interesting museum, the exposition of which demonstrates the national traditions of baking bread, as well as folk crafts.

Children's Park - a journey to the land of good fairy tales and children's dreams. There is a shady park on the bank of the river, inhabited by sculptures of fairy-tale and cartoon characters. A very kind place. For lovers of a relaxing holiday.

Memorial Museum of Konstantin Sergeevich Zaslonov - the legendary Belarusian partisan of a railway worker who blew up 93 German steam locomotives with the help of coal mines. In the museum you can learn more about the Belarusian partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War, see the oath of the partisans and the list of heroes who died during the war. Much attention is paid to the wartime railway theme.
