Description of the attraction
The Troya Peninsula is located in the municipality of Grandola, next to the mouth of the Sado River. Recently, this peninsula has become a favorite vacation spot for those who like to enjoy the sandy beaches that stretch along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and encircle the peninsula.
The peninsula is located 40 kilometers from Lisbon, from the city of Setubal you can reach this unique region by ferry. The ferry crossing to the peninsula is of two types. One ferry transports pedestrians, and the other ferry - transport, which transports cars, bicycles, etc. Very often vacationers come to Setubal by bicycles and cars, and then go to the peninsula. Therefore, the second type of crossing exists for them.
The Troy Peninsula is a place of interest to archaeologists as well. The first written information about the peninsula dates back to the Romanesque period, when the peninsula was the island of Akala, on which a Roman settlement was located.
