Description of the attraction
The Natural History Museum is one of the largest museums working in this direction, and not only on the territory of Ukraine, but also abroad. The museum was established in 1966 and includes the Paleontological, Geological, Botanical, Zoological and Archaeological museums.
The museum is located practically in the center of Kiev. It is here, on an area of about 8,000 square meters, divided into 24 halls, that there are more than 30,000 exhibits, with the help of which visitors will learn about how our planet appeared and developed, its flora and fauna, how tribes and peoples developed, who lived on the territory of Ukraine. A special place in the museum rightfully belongs to dioramas depicting biological and landscape groups.
In the Geological Museum, you can get acquainted with 50,000 thousand samples of minerals, rocks, fossils of fauna and flora. It clearly demonstrates the changes that the territory of our country has undergone throughout all geological eras.
The Paleontological Museum houses exhibits that tell about the development of life on the planet, from the very beginning to the present day. Most of the exhibits of this museum were found on the territory of Ukraine. The greatest interest of visitors here is caused by the remains of ancient people's dwellings, built from the bones of a mammoth more than 20,000 years ago.
The Zoological Museum has about 5,000 animal exhibits that belong to 4,000 species. The largest diorama of the Museum of Natural History is also located here (it is called “Birds Market”). There is also the oldest exhibit in the museum - a stuffed bison made more than two hundred years ago.
The Botanical Museum is also beautiful, which contains the most interesting and significant landscapes of different parts of the world. The pinnacle of the museum is undoubtedly its archeology department.
