Description of the attraction

The famous Holy Trinity Tvorozhkovsky Monastery is a female Orthodox monastery located in the Pskov region in the village of Tvozhkovo, which is located in the Strugokrasnensky district.

The building of the monastery stands on a high mountain, from which a wonderful picturesque view opens up. Along the perimeter of the monastery district there are four lakes, around which are depopulated and half-abandoned villages. Restoration work in the Holy Trinity Monastery began to be carried out not so long ago.

The creation of the monastery took place as a women's community with the participation of the pious noblewoman Alexandra Filippovna von Rose, who bore the name of Shmakov in her maiden name. Alexandra Filippovna was a graduate of the famous Smolny Institute for Noble Maidens. In 1858, the von Rose family acquired the Tvorozhkovo estate, located in the Gdovsky district of the St. Petersburg province, which is located near the villages of Gavrilova Gora, in which the Bystreevsky Nikolsky churchyard is located, and Barsky Dubok. At one time, the new owners of the estate spent a lot of effort, time and financial resources on the construction process.

Alexandra Filippovna was a wonderful and truly amazing woman who spent a lot of money, as well as for many years, to build the Holy Trinity Convent for women. On August 16, 1862, the Most Holy Synod issued a decree authorizing the construction of a women's monastery, as well as a shelter for noble maidens of clerical rank in the village of Tvozhkovo. At the beginning of 1875, construction work began on the construction of the stone Holy Trinity Monastery. Due to financial problems and difficulties during the life of the abbess of the monastery - Mother Angelina, it did not work out completely to build the monastery. In the spring of March 17, 1880, Mother Angelina was buried not far from the altar wall of a practically built church - she never waited for that blessed long-awaited hour of consecration of the new church. The erected Holy Trinity Church was completed and consecrated in the fall of September 5, 1882.

The temple bell tower was rebuilt in the same place, but it has survived to this day. As soon as the bell tower was ready, the bells were brought from the city of Minsk. In the process of consecrating the crosses, the street was gloomy, cloudy, the sky was gray and dismal, and as soon as the last cross was consecrated - suddenly the clouds parted, the sun shone brightly, which delighted the witnesses of what was happening. After that, as the last cross was put up, the sun again hid, as if it did not come out at all.

At the Holy Trinity Monastery there are two churches, one of which is Domovaya, consecrated in honor of the Grieving Mother of God, which was consecrated in 1866, and the other is a five-domed stone church in the name of the Holy Trinity, which was consecrated in 1882.

In 1929, the Tvorozhkovsky monastery was closed, and the nuns were taken away in a car in an unknown direction. In the 20th century, the monastery was completely abandoned, although in the last decade it has been carefully restored under the close supervision of the abbess of Mother Barbara. There is a Sunday school at the Tvorozhkovsky Holy Trinity Monastery. In August 1994, the grave crosses were restored at the burial site of Mother Angelina, Mother Superior George and Mother Olga. A year later, with the blessing of the holy elder Nikolai Talabsky, restoration work began in the monastery monastery.

Today ten sisters live in the monastery. The temple has its own farm, represented by five cows, a horse Star, some part of the land and a spacious greenhouse. Not far from the monastery is the Ilyinsky spring with miraculous water, in which, not only in summer, but also in winter, numerous pilgrims bathe and bathe in the cold water. In the summer of August 5, 2007, the restored Holy Trinity Church was consecrated by Vladyka Eusebius.
