Description of the attraction
September 13, 1928, changed the life of the industrial city of Viña del Mar - gambling was legalized in Chile and the first official home casinos began to operate.
The Viña del Mar Casino was temporarily located in the premises of the resort de Recreo, while the construction of the casino building was carried out on a plot of 3800 sq.m. designed by architects Alberto and Ramon Acuña Risopatron. The inauguration of the municipal casino of Viña del Mar took place on December 31, 1930, surrounded by a blooming spring garden, fountains and lanterns, in an atmosphere that Viña del Mar has never seen. Thanks to the work of the municipal casino, over time, Viña del Mar turned into a resort town, became the national tourist capital of Chile.
This majestic building, which combines Greek and Roman styles, with an imposing facade with Ionic columns, many galleries, concert halls and restaurants, has become perhaps the center of attraction for city visitors and locals. If you look at the building from above, you can see that the structure resembles the outline of a clover leaf.
Since the opening of the casino, Chileans and foreign tourists have become a habit of spending the summer in Viña del Mar. The most prestigious aristocratic families of Santiago and Valparaiso, government officials, diplomats and businessmen schedule their business negotiations or simply relax in the VIP lounges of the casino. It has over 1200 slot machines, 48 table games, 200 bingo, which are located on three levels. You can play Roulette, Black Jack, Craps, Baccarat and Bingo. Visitors can attend shows, national and international exhibitions. There is no dress code.
Without the income of the Vina del Mar Municipal Casino, there would not be even a shadow of what is now in the city. This building is an icon of Viña del Mar and is considered one of the most modern casinos in the world.
The casino has an elegant five-star hotel of seven floors, with sea views and underground parking, which stands out for its restaurants, swimming pools, exhibition and conference rooms, and an exclusive cigar shop.
Viña del Mar Casino is rightfully called the Pearl of the Pacific Ocean. In 2000, the Viña del Mar Casino building was declared a State Historical and Architectural Monument of Chile.
