Description of the attraction

The profitable building in Ruse is an architectural monument located right in the center of the city, next to the Freedom Monument. Initially, the building was built to rent rooms and halls for rent for visiting theater corpses, it was erected in the period from 1898 to 1902. The architectural project belongs to the master from Hungary, Pavel Branck.

It is known that during the construction of the profitable building, residents of Ruse also took an active part in the work. However, the construction of the building was never completed, as the estimated costs increased every month, and the bank refused to borrow a large amount of money. Thus, the planned completion of the apartment building did not take place due to lack of money.

The name - "profitable building" - was taken by the city administration, proceeding from the idea that the building would bring income to the treasury through the hiring and rent of premises by touring theater groups, and it was also assumed that some of the rooms would be equipped for libraries, shops and even a casino.

The facade of the building is made in the neoclassical style, decorated with all kinds of luxurious details, stucco sculptures. The upper part of the building is crowned with a statue of a small winged Mercury.
