Description of the attraction
Villa Vecchia - The Old Villa is one of the most popular attractions in Cosenza in the Italian region of Calabria. It is a city park located in the historic center of Cosenza on Piazza 15 Marzo (March 15). The area itself is known among the locals as Cosenza Vecchia.
Villa Vecchia is located near Palazzo della Prefetura and has several entrances. In addition, you can get to the park from the famous theater of Alfonso Rendano, recently renovated.
In the territory of Villa Vecchia, which is spread over several levels, you can see several statues, fountains and a circular area, originally designed as an amphitheater. "Green" oases with secluded alleys give the park a special atmosphere and make it one of the favorite recreation places for residents and guests of Cosenza. A number of cultural and social events are held here throughout the year, the largest of which is probably the Festa delle Invazioni, during which intellectuals and artists from all over the world gather in Villa Vecchia. Music shows are often organized here, for example, in different years, Patricia Lee Smith and Lou Reed performed in the park.
