Description of the attraction
The Botanical Garden of Cordoba is a new botanical park in a picturesque setting on the banks of the Guadalquivira River. The botanical garden covers an area of 5.5 hectares.
This is a fairly young park that was founded in 1980 at the initiative of a group of scientists and professors from the University of Cordoba. The Botanical Garden of Cordoba has a rich collection of flora specimens from all continents.
There is an arboretum on the territory of the park, which contains a large collection of trees and shrubs that grow here in natural conditions. There is a rose garden next to the arboretum, which has collected a huge number of varieties of beautiful roses. There are also greenhouses where plants grow, which are native to North and South America, as well as plants - representatives of the flora of the Canary Islands.
The Museum of Ethnobotany is located on the territory of the Botanical Garden. The museum gives its visitors the opportunity to learn a lot of new information about plants, tells about the evolution of plant cultures, about the interaction of man and the plant world, about the methods and methods of breeding new crops that have been used over the years. Three halls of the museum are equipped with interactive panels and graphic displays, with the help of which all this collected and detailed structured information is demonstrated. Particular attention is paid here to the importance and necessity of preserving the diversity of plant life on our planet. In the fourth hall of the museum, exhibitions of plants are held directly.
