Poniente beach
Poniente beach
Its length is more than 3 km. Soft light sand, gentle descent into clear sea water - what else do you need in order to spend the perfect vacation at the resort? Unless only high-quality beach infrastructure. Here it is: on the beach you will find everything you need, from foot showers to volleyball courts.
There are rescue towers, first-aid posts, and special platforms that make it easy for people with disabilities to launch water. But there is almost no shade on the beach: the leaves of the few palm trees growing here practically do not save you from the sun's rays. If you want to protect yourself from the sun, you will have to rent an umbrella (which many vacationers do).
There is a beautiful promenade near the beach, there is a park nearby. After swimming a lot, you can go for a walk in these picturesque places.
The beach is considered calm, ideal for families. And this is true, especially if you compare it with another nearby beach, which is considered a favorite place for noisy and cheerful young people.
Levante beach
One of the central city beaches. Has a reputation for being a crowded and partying place. There are especially many tourists here in the middle and at the end of summer, as well as at the beginning of autumn. Here you can do almost any kind of water sports, or you can just sit in a bar or pub, in a cafe or restaurant, admiring the sea space from there.
The length of the beach is over 2 km. The sand here is yellowish, pleasant to the touch and clean (the beach is regularly cleaned of debris). The entrance to the water is very convenient and gentle. The beach is fenced on both sides by natural rock ledges.
In terms of the quality of infrastructure, this beach can be called one of the best in the city. Here you can rent an umbrella and play basketball in a specially designated area … If you have children, they will appreciate the local playgrounds. Everything is as it should be on an ideal beach: toilets, trash cans, first-aid posts, rescue towers …
Near the beach there is a picturesque promenade with shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes.
Mal Pas beach
Its length is a little more than 100 m, but nevertheless it is very popular among vacationers, as it is rightfully considered the most beautiful beach in the city.
It is very easy to get here: you can come from the city on foot. The sand on the beach is fine and golden, the water surprises with its purity. The entire beach is surrounded by rocky outcrops, which looks very picturesque and gives this place an additional charm.
To the left of the beach is the historic center of the city, where all the main local attractions are concentrated. The roofs of the old area rise above the cliffs that surround the beach.
In addition to all these beauties, there is an infrastructure that includes everything needed for vacationers. No wonder the beach is one of the city's most popular tourist destinations!
Terra Mitica
Terra Mitica
City amusement park. The name translates as "land of myths". Divided into several thematic zones: Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Iberian; each of these parts of the park is decorated in a special way; performances on the themes of the corresponding myths are played on its territory. For example: in the area of the park dedicated to ancient Greek mythology, you can see a costume performance telling about the exploits of Hercules. The zone dedicated to Iberia (and the islands) is a separate part of the park.
The business is not limited to performances and unusual surroundings: there are many attractions in the amusement park. Some of them are designed only for those who are at least 14 years old (there are also height restrictions), others are built specifically for babies.
There are cafes in the park, as well as several eateries. Here you can have fun all day, or even several days (if you want to try absolutely all the entertainment offered here).
The park is open only during the warm season.
Aqualandia
One of the largest European water parks. There are more than 20 different attractions, including a water slide with a height of about 30 m. A large swimming pool, where guests are pumped by artificial waves, a jacuzzi, playgrounds for children's leisure, restaurants - there is everything that should be in a first-class water park. You can even organize a picnic at the designated area.
There are also several park areas where you can see various types of Mediterranean plants. After enjoying the water attractions, you can relax in the shade of the bright green foliage of subtropical trees.
One of the main features of the water park is that it uses sea water. It is chlorinated and its salt content is reduced.
Mundomar
Mundomar
Animal park. Penguins, dolphins, sea lions, turtles and meerkats can be seen here. The park is home to colorful, noisy parrots, and mysterious polar owls, and beautiful flamingos … The local climate makes it possible to create comfortable living conditions for all these species in the park.
Here you can not only admire exotic birds and sea animals, but also watch performances with their participation. Separately, it is necessary to mention the ballet performance in which dolphins participate. Together with them, dizzying ballet numbers are shown by members of the Spanish Olympic team. This is a real masterpiece, its beauty and complexity always impress the audience.
There are several shops in the park, bars and restaurants are also open to visitors.
Old city
The spirit of Spanish antiquity reigns in this part of the resort. Narrow streets, small squares, low old buildings …
But here you can not only admire the colorful Spanish architecture: this place attracts many shopping lovers, as there are a huge number of shops here. And there is also an incredible number of tapas bars: it is very difficult to name the best of them, since literally every one offers excellent tapas.
One of the main local attractions is the observation deck called "Mediterranean Balcony". It offers stunning views of the sea and the city. On the cliff above it is a snow-white square, connected to the observation deck by a long, bright white staircase. On the square you can see old cannons (there was once a fort here). Not far from them is the main decoration of the entire old city - a beautiful 18th century church crowned with blue domes.
Another local attraction is the Señoria Square, framed by palm trees and flowers. There is a monument to fishermen and sailors who died in the depths of the sea.
Mount Tossal de Cala
Located in the southwestern part of the city. Here, several decades ago, archaeologists discovered the remains of a settlement founded shortly before the beginning of our era. Many ancient ceramics and metal products have been found. Research continues in this area to this day.
There are also two beautiful observation decks on the mountain. Even if you are not interested in antiquities, you will still love it here!
Mount La Cruz
The top of this mountain is the highest point in the city and one of its best observation platforms.
This place is considered sacred. Here stands a cross, which was once raised to the top by several Catholics. They carried it on themselves (just as Jesus carried his cross), periodically replacing each other. Today, many notes are attached to its foot with requests for healing and blessings. It is believed that the cross, which has become one of the city's landmarks today, protects the Spanish resort from all evil.
Even if you do not believe in the miraculous power of this place, you should still climb here: you will have a delightful view. From here you can take great pictures.
At night, the cross shines brightly with illumination, it can be clearly seen from anywhere in the city.
Benidorm island
Benidorm island
It is located about 3 km from the city. It is impossible to get to the island by land, only by boat. This double-deck boat takes tourists to and from its rocky shores several times a day. Only 20 minutes aboard - and you are on the island.
Here you can swim, sunbathe, admire the seascapes, visit a restaurant where fresh seafood is an integral part of almost all dishes. But the most interesting thing that awaits tourists here is a walk around the island on a special boat, the bottom of which is equipped with portholes with thick glass. Through them you can observe the life of marine life. The underwater flora and fauna are impressive even for experienced divers (who often visit the island).
Natural beauty, delicious food and the fresh breath of the sea are not all that the island enchants tourists. He has a rather interesting story. Once it was a real pirate base, it was from here that gentlemen of fortune made their forays. Another page in the history of the island is also known: in the 19th century, several families lived here, who fled from the city in which a cholera epidemic broke out.
Today nothing reminds of those turbulent times. Complete serenity reigns on the island, only huge flocks of seagulls circle over the rocks and the grass sways slightly in the fresh sea breeze.
