Belarus is the country where the transport system continues to actively improve and become more comfortable for motorists. There are toll and free roads in the country, and parking can be found in any large or small settlement. At the same time, in small towns the cost of paid parking spaces is lower than in the capital.
Features of parking in Belarus
The paid parking system was introduced in the country relatively recently, so many residents did not immediately positively perceive such changes. Paid parking has its own characteristics:
- The cost of a parking space is usually fixed in an hour and varies from 1 to 5 Belarusian rubles.
- If you wish, you can purchase a monthly subscription that provides convenient parking in the central part of the city.
- Compliance with parking rules is strictly monitored by special inspectors, dressed in green work vests.
- In case of violation of the parking rules, the inspector attaches a warning sign to the car window, to which the driver is obliged to react.
- If the violation was recorded once, then the driver must pay 9 hours of parking. A secondary violation will increase the fine.
- Those who left the car in the wrong place also face a large fine.
- If necessary, a car enthusiast can check the availability of free parking spaces through a convenient application installed on the phone.
- All cars that "pass" through the parking lot during the day are photographed by the inspector on a tablet, and the data is sent to the traffic police.
- In winter, you should leave your car in the heated parking lots, which ensure the safety of your personal vehicle.
- You can pay for parking not only through parking machines, but also by credit card and cash.
As for free parking lots, there are fewer and fewer of them in Belarus. This trend is especially true for megacities. Free parking can be found in the area of the airport, train station, shopping centers, hotels and other places of the public. It is difficult to leave the car in the courtyards to the crane, since all the places have already been allocated by the residents of the houses.
Parking in Belarusian cities
The most active traffic flow is observed in the Belarusian capital. Therefore, the city authorities strive to provide the citizens and guests of the capital with parking spaces as much as possible. The most popular free parking lots are located near the railway station (Druzhnikova, Bobruiskaya, Myasnikova streets), in the center of Minsk (Ulyanovskaya, Kirov, Engels streets, Freedom Square), near shopping centers (Nemiga, Kuibysheva, Nemiga streets), etc.
Separately, it should be noted that when planning a trip to the shops of Minsk on weekends, you should take care of where to leave your car. Firstly, parking lots are crowded on weekends. Secondly, after lunch you will have a minimal chance to park for free.
There are enough paid parking lots in Minsk and they are located in different parts of the city. Mostly such parking lots are concentrated in different districts of Minsk or near the most visited shopping and entertainment centers.
In Brest, you can park for a fee not far from the Gallery Grand shopping center, the main market, on Pushkinskaya, Stafeeva, Varshavskoe shosse, Leningradskaya streets, etc. Most parking lots are open from 8.00 to 21.00, however, there are options with a round-the-clock mode.
Grodno is considered a small settlement, therefore, there are not so many parking lots there as in other Belarusian cities. The bulk of motorists leave their car in parking lots on the streets of Kurchatov, Dzherzhinsky, Limoges and Repin.
Vitebsk boasts a two-level parking lot located on the basement floor of the business center. This is one of the most popular parking spots among residents. In total, there are about 8 comfortable paid parking lots and 15 free ones in the city, which provides maximum comfort for motorists.
Car rental in Belarus
Sometimes tourists who come to the country rent a car in order to move freely around the country for the purpose of traveling. A car can be rented in several ways, including websites on the Internet and direct contact with a particular company. The rules for renting a car in Belarus are not very different from other European countries.
Also, do not forget that there are several important traffic rules in the country that should not be neglected:
- The car will be given only to persons who have turned 21 years old.
- You will have to pay for moving along highways and autobahns in vending machines installed along the roads.
- Drinking alcohol while driving is unacceptable. This is perhaps the main point that motorists need to consider.
- Overtaking police cars is strictly prohibited.
- Drivers with less than 2 years of experience in driving a vehicle cannot reach speeds in excess of 70 kilometers per hour on the road.
- In populated areas, the speed of the car should not exceed 60 km / h, and in some cases 20 km / h. The permitted speed limit on the highway is no more than 90 km / h.
The car is issued for a different period and tax must be paid for the car in the form of the amount reserved on the bank card. Full payment is made upon the return of the car.
