For many decades, Ukraine has become a favorite vacation spot for millions of tourists. The Black Sea coast and the picturesque Carpathians, the fantastically beautiful squares of Kiev and the special flavor of Odessa, the European streets of Lvov and the healing waters of Truskavets annually attract those who prefer a comfortable climate, rich history and good-quality inexpensive service. Once having chosen a summer vacation in Ukraine, the Russian traveler returns to the local resorts again and again, because, as you know, goodness is not sought from good.

On the merits of Ukrainian resorts

Ukraine is good at any time of the year, but it is in the summer that its charm is revealed especially brightly. Sea tours are not the only goal of the traveler, because the advantages of the Ukrainian direction allow you to get other positive impressions:

  • Prices for vouchers to Ukrainian sanatoriums, balneological resorts or rooms in local hotels look much nicer than similar European ones.
  • The weather in Ukraine allows even elderly travelers to avoid acclimatization, and a varied cuisine will make a family vacation comfortable and easy.
  • To visit the country, Russian tourists just need to have a valid passport in their hands.
  • There will be no language barrier when communicating with staff and local residents.

A varied excursion and cultural program will be an excellent addition to a beach or health-improving summer vacation in Ukraine. Each city in the country is rich in world-class attractions. In Odessa and Kiev, Lvov and Kharkov there are dozens of famous theaters and museums, art galleries and recreation parks, and therefore it will be easy for both an organized tourist and an independent traveler to compose daily informative and interesting routes.

About beaches

Beach holidays in Ukraine are organized on the coast of the Black and Azov Seas. The largest resorts are Odessa and Berdyansk.

The beach area in Odessa stretches for three tens of kilometers. The famous Odessa beaches Lanzheron, Otrada, Arcadia and Luzanovka have their own characteristics, infrastructure and a contingent of tourists. The bulk of Odessa seaside recreation areas are equipped with changing rooms and cafes, fresh showers and toilets. Active visitors can practice various sports and rent equipment for water skiing or diving, fly with the breeze on an aqua scooter or see the city from a height of parachute flight behind a boat.

The special pride of Odessa beaches are cafes and restaurants with local cuisine. The menu contains the best dishes from the repertoire of Ukrainian chefs and a vacation on Odessa beaches can turn into an interesting gastronomic excursion.

The swimming season in Ukraine starts at the end of May, when the water in the Black Sea warms up to + 20 ° С by noon, and the air - up to + 28 ° С. In the resorts of the Azov Sea, the season begins a few days later. It is possible to sunbathe comfortably until mid-October, then the air becomes rather cool, although the sea water remains warm until the end of autumn.

Summer vacation with children in Ukraine

The best vacation for a child is a trip to the sea, and therefore Ukraine is quite suitable for a vacation with the whole family. Ideal conditions for bathing babies are created by nature itself on the Azov coast. The entrance to the water here is especially gentle and the sea is shallow for the first tens of meters. The Azov estuaries warm up to comfortable temperatures and it is pleasant to splash around in them even for the smallest travelers.

In the resorts of the Azov Sea, water parks, water slides and attractions have been built, and many hotels in Berdyansk have similar children's complexes on their territory. In addition, clinics have been opened at the resort, because the local mud has long been recognized as curative and is in no way inferior in properties to the Israeli one.

Cultural activities for your child can be organized in local museums, the zoo or excursions to the lighthouses. Taking part in the festival of children's creativity, which takes place every summer in Berdyansk, will give the child many pleasant minutes from communication with peers.

Note to the traveler

  • The seaside restaurants of Berdyansk serve delicious and inexpensive dishes from fresh fish caught in the Azov Sea.
  • The cleanest and most picturesque beaches of the Azov Sea are located on the Berdyansk Spit.
  • On the third Sunday of July, on the Maidan Lake, 40 km from Lviv, a club music festival "Where Dreams May Come" is held. The event has a great resonance in Europe.

About sights

Many places in Ukraine are worthy of a traveler's attention and any trip can be supplemented with educational excursions to the sights of world importance.

If you are staying in Lviv and decide what to visit in the city on your own, take a walk through its old center. Three main cathedrals deserve special attention - Latin, Dominican and St. Jura, and the best panoramic views of the city open from the observation decks of the High Castle Park. Photos of the Lviv Opera House have long been an invariable decoration of guidebooks.

In Uzhgorod, the local castle built in the 9th century and the episcopal palace built in the 17th century are worth a visit. In Chernivtsi, the Church of the Honorable Cross dominates the city, the tower of which was used several centuries ago to detect fires, and near Poltava there is still the village of Dykanka, which figured in the literary works of Gogol and Pushkin.
