The Mediterranean island of Cyprus is known for those lovers of a relaxing holiday on the beaches who prefer moderation in everything. There is a mild climate, clear sea, comfortable hotels without expensive frills, an excursion sufficient for a short vacation and excellent cuisine. The advantage will be a not too long flight, and it is not at all difficult to obtain a visa here necessary for a Russian tourist. After weighing all the pros, a beach holiday in Cyprus is chosen sooner or later by the absolute majority of travelers, for whom all of the above is of great importance.

Where to go to sunbathe?

In 1974, the peaceful and united island of Cyprus, as a result of a coup, was divided into two zones - Turkish and Greek. Since then, the Turkish part is called Northern Cyprus and is a state unrecognized by the whole world (except Turkey). The rest of the island remains the Republic of Cyprus. However, these subtleties have little effect on tourists arriving in the summer, and there are comfortable resorts on both parts of the third largest island in the Mediterranean:

  • Limassol is considered the most incendiary Cypriot resort. There is everything for everyone - children's beaches and water parks, night discos and a zoo, hotels for every taste and national taverns. It is Limassol that Russian tourists most often choose, and therefore you will not have a shortage of company at this resort.
  • One of the island's international airports is located seven kilometers from Larnaca, the resort most suitable for families with children. The city will appeal to fans of tranquility and silence and divers interested in sunken ships.
  • Ayia Napa is often referred to as the Cypriot Ibiza. The reviews of fans of a measured beach holiday who accidentally come to this resort are replete with emotions! After the second sleepless night, even retirees here stop experimenting with earplugs and leave the hotel room to meet club adventures. You can sleep on the beach during the day.
  • Hotels in Protaras allow to combine noisy and youth with family and quiet. Located not far from the Ayia Napa hangout, its beaches allow you to visit the noisy world of club music at will.
  • The main resort of Northern Cyprus, Kyrenia, is famous for a huge selection of both budget hotels and luxury hotels. The service here is quite identical to the Turkish one, and the sights are found quite in the Greek style.

Weather features of a beach holiday in Cyprus

The island's climate is called temperate, maritime and its main advantage is a large number of sunny days. Even in winter it is rarely colder than + 15 ° С here, and the swimming season starts in mid-May. By the beginning of school holidays, the air temperature steadily rises to 30-degree values, and in the sea at the main resorts, thermometers show up to + 23 ° C in the first days of summer.

In July and August, it is especially hot, but the heat is easily tolerated due to low humidity and winds from the sea. It is possible to swim and sunbathe comfortably until the first weeks of November, when the beach holiday in Cyprus ends.

In the homeland of Aphrodite

The main attraction of the Paphos resort is the nearby beach, where the goddess Aphrodite was born from sea foam in ancient times. Legend has it that the one who swims in the waves here is guaranteed a second youth and beauty, which even modern spa salons cannot achieve. In addition to the obvious savings on cosmetologists, a beach vacation in Cyprus in the Paphos region guarantees a perfectly clear sea, comfortable hotels and a respectable European audience in the neighbors in the restaurant and by the pool. And also near the resort there is its own airport, where several charters from Moscow fly during the season, and the rest of the time there are also regular flights of airlines.

Tourists with kids will not like Paphos too much - the entrance to the water on most of its beaches is quite rocky, and therefore, when choosing where it is better to stay, you should inquire about the beach cover. The prices for hotels in the resort will seem slightly inhumane, but the quality of service in them remains beyond praise. Paphos hotels are focused on Europeans, and therefore the local beaches are not crowded, and there is nowhere to fall near the pools.

Ayia Napa - sacred forest

Legend has it that the city got its name from a shrine found in a cave nearby. At the place where a casual traveler saw the Face of the Most Holy Theotokos, a monastery was erected, and the place was named Ayia Napa or "sacred forest".

Today this resort is the capital of youth beach holidays in Cyprus. Reviews of those who have visited here indicate that fans of club parties are not alone in Ibiza. Photos decorating the interiors of local establishments are clear proof that Ayia Napa is not forgotten by world-class DJs.

And yet the main attraction of this resort is the beaches, most of which proudly fly blue flags. The prestigious European Community Prize for Cleanliness is consistently awarded to the local coastline. The most famous beach is Nissi Bay, a 20-minute walk from the center of the resort:

  • The Nissi Bay recreation area offers sun loungers and beach umbrellas for rent, changing rooms, toilets and fresh showers.
  • From 10.00 to 18.00, lifeguards monitor the safety of bathers.
  • There are football and volleyball courts on the sand.
  • In the evenings, discos and foam parties are held on the beach.
  • For lunch and dinner, there are numerous restaurants serving a rich selection of Mediterranean cuisine and seafood.

Hotels in the Nissi Bay area are located on the second coastline and among them there are "four" and very comfortable "treshki".

Despite the noisy fame of the resort, a beach holiday in Cyprus with children in the Ayia Napa area is quite possible. If you arrive in May and early June, you can find a quiet city: the main party-goers begin to catch up by the middle of summer, and before that, sandy beaches and warm sea become the subject of attraction for parents with babies.
