One of the main attractions of the Czech capital is the Vltava River, girded with eighteen bridges within the city limits. Magnificent views of ancient cathedrals and medieval streets open from the embankments of Prague, which flow smoothly into one another, allowing you to make a long promenade through one of the most beautiful European cities.
We count together
The Prague embankments adorn the capital of the Czech Republic and serve as a favorite walking spot for tourists and locals alike. Here they make dates, arrange photo shoots and enjoy the sunsets:
- The name of the composer Dvorak is the embankment of Prague, which appeared on the right bank of the Vltava after the reconstruction of 1904. It is laid under the Czech Bridge.
- Alyosha embankment is its natural continuation. This part of the Vltava coast offers the best views of Prague Castle. The main attraction is the Rudolfinium Concert Hall and Gallery.
- The oldest Smetana embankment in Prague appeared on the city map between the Charles and Legion bridges in the 1840s.
- Yachts and small vessels dock at Podol. Many sightseeing boats leave from here.
- At the end of the Janáček embankment, there is a castle where pleasure boats dock.
- The National Theater can be reached along the Masaryk promenade.
To touch the music
Mikoláš Aleš, whose honor one of the embankments of Prague is named, was a famous artist. It was he who was honored to decorate the foyer of the famous national theater. And the Rudolfinium building on the embankment named after him was built at the end of the 19th century. An outstanding architectural masterpiece in the neo-Renaissance style today serves as the home of the Czech Symphony Orchestra, known throughout the world for its inimitable art of performing classical music.
Beauty to the very horizon
The Letensky Gardens are called the lungs of the Czech capital, the best view of which opens from the opposite bank of the Vltava River from the Dvorak embankment. In addition to shady alleys, well-groomed lawns and cozy benches, this park is famous for some of the sights of the European level.
The very first carousel in the Old World is located in Letná sady. It was built in 1892 and continues to operate flawlessly to this day. The electric drive eventually replaced the muscular mechanical force, but wooden horses covered with natural skins have survived from those distant times.
