Its guests always consider the embankment to be the face of any seaside city, and Batumi is very lucky in this sense. A strip of pebble beach stretches for ten kilometers, along which the magnificent Primorsky Boulevard runs - reconstructed and landscaped in the best European traditions.
Architectural delights
When designing the new Batumi, its architects paid special attention to the construction of unusual buildings that allow unmistakably guessing the name of the city in any panoramic photograph from just one line of the sky:
- The tallest building, clearly visible from the Batumi embankment, belongs to the Technological University. The height of its building reaches 200 meters, and the author of the project is a young Georgian architect David Gogichiashvili. Those wishing to see the city through the eyes of a bird use the Ferris wheel installed in the tower.
- The tower of the Georgian alphabet is a conceptual and original structure. It symbolizes the genetic code of the nation, and at night the letters of the Georgian alphabet are beautifully illuminated on it. The building soared 130 meters into the Batumi sky, and an observatory and a restaurant were located on its upper floors.
- The Chacha Tower is famous not only for the spiral staircase with panoramic windows leading to the observation deck, but also for the fountain. They say that real Georgian chacha flows out of it once a week for several minutes.
The old Batumi lighthouse has surprisingly organically blended into the new urban look and still remains the symbol of the Batumi coast.
Tourist notes
A cycle path is laid along the entire ten-kilometer embankment of Batumi, and therefore it is possible to make a long journey from end to end quickly and conveniently. There are two-wheeled vehicle rental points in many places on the boulevard, and it is allowed to rent a rented bike in any of them. ATVs and Segways are also available on the boulevard.
The entire embankment of Batumi is a zone of free wireless Internet with excellent speed. Now you don't have to look for McDonald's to check your email or post a photo on Instagram. It is also available here, but in Georgia it is better to have lunch and dinner in a cafe with local cuisine. There are a lot of them on the Primorskaya embankment in Batumi.
At the end of Rustaveli Avenue, not far from the beach, a new dolphinarium has been opened. The show takes place three times a day at 14.00, 17.00 and 21.00, closed on Monday. Anyone can take part in the show and swim with dolphins.
