Switzerland is a high-class hotels, excellent sightseeing holidays, involving visits to ancient cities and castles, the best trails for ski lovers. In addition, the waterfalls of Switzerland can cause no less interest of tourists.
Rhine Falls
The 23-meter waterfall, 150 m wide, is easy to reach by rail, and to the very center of it can be reached by boat (it departs from the pier on the north bank; price - 7 francs; and a circular tour of the Rhine Falls basin, lasting 1 hour, will cost 14 francs). To enjoy its power, it is recommended to climb the observation decks - they are located on the southern and northern banks of the Rhine. So, one of them is located in the Laufen castle (the cost of visiting is 5 francs), where, in addition, you can visit an exhibition that will acquaint guests with the history of the region and the waterfall. Another opportunity to admire this water attraction is to walk along the pedestrian sidewalk of the railway bridge that spans the Rhine.
It is worth to be at the Rhine Falls on July 31 - at about 10 o'clock in the evening, a fireworks show is held here.
Reichenbach Falls
Tourists are invited to admire the 250-meter waterfall, consisting of several cascades from the observation deck, where a memorial plaque is installed in memory of Sherlock Holmes (Conan Doyle immortalized the Reichenbach Falls as the place of Holmes' death in his book). Tourists get to it by funicular, which costs 10 francs.
Trummelbach Falls
The 150-meter waterfall includes 10 cascades: first, tourists climb to the upper observation deck by means of an elevator, after which they get inside the mountain and walk through the illuminated tunnels, examining this natural creation.
Staubbach
At the 300-meter waterfall (at the end of the fall, the jets turn into a water cloud of splashes), travelers will be able to admire both from the outside and from the tunnel made in the mountain.
Giessbach
It consists of 13 cascades (they are illuminated in the evening), which are located one above the other (the total height of the fall is 400 m). Tourists can stay at the hotel (from the lake to it, guests take a funicular) at the beginning of the waterfall, where they can relax and admire the surrounding panorama from the windows.
Gandek
The 46-meter waterfall on the Aare is a favorite place for tourists and artists. It will be possible to find a suspension bridge not far from it - it is intended for viewing Gandek from a height.
