Kenya's national parks, of which nearly six dozen have been created on the territory of the country, are called upon to preserve the original African nature and help people explore the world around them. In them you can observe the most famous animals of Africa, get acquainted with the life and customs of indigenous peoples and enjoy photo sessions against the backdrop of the magnificent landscapes of the savannah - the most recognizable climatic zone of the black continent.

Briefly about famous

Excursions and safaris to the most visited national parks in Kenya are offered by numerous travel agencies in the cities of the country:

  • In Tsavo Park, you can easily meet a lion and a buffalo, a hippopotamus and a rhinoceros. The largest in area, it was the very first to appear on the map of Kenya.
  • Curious giraffes and huge elephants are the main inhabitants of Amboseli Park, and the snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro is the ideal decoration for the performance called "Wild Africa".

  • The migration of wildebeests and the high probability of meeting cheetahs and rhinos in their natural habitat are important reasons for the large influx of tourists to Masai Mara Park in the first half of autumn.
  • The Nakuru Salt Lake System in Kenya's National Park of the same name is home to huge flocks of pink flamingos.

For those born free

In 1966, the Meru Park was formed 350 km from the capital of the country, Nairobi. Its main difference from other protected areas is good irrigation by the waters of 14 rivers at once, and therefore the landscapes here are especially splendid, and the fauna is diverse. The bridge across the Tana River has become convenient for visitors to the park, allowing you to see Kora Park in one excursion. Tana serves as their natural border.

Among the inhabitants of the park there are leopards and cheetahs, elephants and hippos, rhinos and zebras. The main celebrity of Meru was in the 60s of the last century the lioness Elsa, who suffered from poachers, was rescued and released into the wild. Park researcher and Elsa curator Joy Adamson wrote a book about it, which became the idea for the movie "Born Free".

Corals live here

Kenya's Watamu National Park is also a marine reserve, because there are a huge number of coral reefs on its territory. More than 150 varieties of coral form a bright and colorful underwater forest, and therefore, having received a special permit, tourists can go snorkeling and diving in the park.

For those interested in the animal world, Watamu is a place to observe a huge number of mysterious representatives of the African fauna. Rare animals include olive and green turtles, whose nests on the beaches are carefully guarded. Of no less interest are a variety of birds, more than a hundred species of which nest in Watamu.

This Kenya National Park is located on the Indian Ocean coast in the southeastern part of the country. The nearest cities are Malindi (28 km) and Mombasa (120 km).
