The international airport in Abakan is located a few kilometers north of the city. The airline has two artificial runways, 3, 2 km and 1, 8 km long. The main air carriers of the air harbor are such airlines as Aeroflot, KrassAvia, Ikar, Taimyr, S7 Airlines and other well-known Russian air carriers. More than ten flights depart from here every day to different points in Russia and abroad.
History
As an independent aviation enterprise, the State Enterprise "Airport Abakan" was founded in March 1993, after a large-scale reconstruction of the Abakan aviation enterprise operating at that time.
The existing runway was strengthened and equipped with new equipment, as well as a new runway was laid. The passenger terminal has been modernized, new hangars and utility buildings have been built for aircraft maintenance and parking.
In 1996, the airline received international status. And for two years in a row in 1999 and 2000, the airport was awarded the title of the best airport in the nomination "the best airport in the CIS countries".
Service and services
The compact passenger terminal of the airport in Abakan provides all the conditions for comfortable passenger service. On its territory there are:
- an agency for the sale of air and railway tickets, which, in addition to selling tickets, offers their advance booking, free delivery to the office or home and the possibility of cashless payments
- Luggage storage, located on the ground floor of the terminal, works around the clock and offers a range of services for storing and packing luggage
- deluxe lounge for passengers traveling in business class
- mother and child room for travelers with children up to seven years old
- a medical center where there are drugs and medical equipment necessary for first aid
In addition, the airport has facilities for handling passengers with disabilities. Here, not only strollers and ramps for the mobile movement of disabled people are provided, but also special escorts.
Transport
From the airport to the railway station there is a regular bus route No. 32, trolleybuses No. 5 and 4. A trolleybus No. 3 will take you along the central streets of the city, the final stop of which is “Avtovokzal”. City taxi services also provide their services.
