The country uses thermal springs in Armenia, mineral water deposits, healing climate and other gifts of nature for the benefit of the health of its citizens and guests from other countries. They are offered to take a closer look at local sanatoriums and health centers, where they can test for themselves the effect of various treatment programs.

Features of thermal springs in Armenia

Armenia is famous for its hot water springs, which are especially pleasant to swim in in winter, when there is fluffy white snow around. Such water procedures will energize and solve existing chronic health problems.

Jermuk

The outskirts of the city are famous for their 40 springs, the maximum temperature of which is +55 degrees (their healing properties were known back in the 1st century BC).

In Jermuk, they are waiting for those suffering from duodenal ulcer and stomach ulcer, diabetes, uric acid diathesis, women, diseases of the biliary tract and liver, and those who want to get rid of excess weight.

Jermuk is interesting for the following objects:

  • A 68-meter waterfall (its flow creates 3 domed terraces);
  • a drinking gallery (taps are brought out to the walls of this structure, each of which belongs to a certain type of water and has a different temperature);
  • an art gallery (the works of Abegyan, Sarkisyan, Saryan, Grigoryan and other artists are subject to inspection);
  • ski slopes (total length - 2600 m, elevation difference - 400 m).

As for accommodation facilities, vacationers can stay at the Jermuk Olympia Hotel (where you can take a course of spa and sanatorium procedures).

Thermal spring in the Ahavno river valley

Due to its remoteness, the source is rarely visited, but once you reach it, you should not miss the opportunity to swim in its thermal water, the temperature of which is +28 degrees (it is poured into 3 pools located near the source).

Satani Kamurj Bridge

Near this 30-meter bridge, you can find sources of thermal water (+25 degrees) - they are surrounded by stalactites of unusual colors (water is knocked out of cracks in the rocks). Under the springs, grottoes are located, for the study of which there is no need to take a lantern and special equipment with you. The only thing you need to be prepared for is that water is flowing from the walls.

Another place worth visiting is the Tatev Monastery, which was built in the 9-13th centuries. Do not use the “Wings of Tatev” cable car (a cabin that can accommodate more than 20 passengers moves at a speed of 37 km / h; travel time is 11.5 minutes).

Ararat city

The 24-degree calcium-enriched water, coming out to the surface, forms a reservoir used for bathing (its area is 14 by 14 m, and free carbon dioxide is released in the center). Water procedures will bring relief to those who have problems with nerves, blood vessels, motor apparatus …

Hankavan

Thermal mineral water of Hankavan, which is enriched with boron, iodine, bromine and other elements and has a temperature up to +42 degrees, is used both externally and internally (total mineralization of waters - 6, 3 mg / l).

In Hankavan, about 20 excavations were carried out, as a result of which many natural exoduses dried up. At the moment, there is an "eruption" of 3 main sources, the water volume (2,000,000 liters per day) of which in the future will be able to provide both bottling and the needs of the sanatorium under construction.

Today, Hankavan provides vacationers with 3 open-type bathing pools, where no more than 5 people can fit at the same time (you should not swim or take a shower until 12 hours have passed after taking medicinal water procedures in order to enhance the beneficial effect of thermal water on the body). The only thing is that it is not comfortable here in winter due to the lack of a warm room where one could change.

Arzakan

In Arzakan (located at 1800-1900 meters above sea level), vacationers are attracted by clean air, magnificent nature, alpine meadows, picturesque landscapes, Armenian national treats, sources of thermal water (+50 degrees), located in the valley of the Dallar River.

Baths filled with this water are prescribed for people who have problems with nerves, locomotor apparatus and circulatory system. With regard to ingestion, it is indicated for those suffering from gout and obesity, and having problems with digestion (increased and decreased acidity of gastric juice).

Those who find themselves in Arzakan should pay attention to the rest house and sanatorium "Gandzakhbyur". And those who are interested in the excursion program can go to inspect the ruins of the Nekhutsk Monastery of the Mother of God (built 10-11 centuries). They will see the preserved chapel, church and narthex, the walls of which are decorated with inscriptions (they date back to the 13th century), and the base has a rectangular shape and 4 free-standing columns.
