Description of the attraction

The Turkish resort of Pamukkale, like no other, is famous for its thermal springs, combined into medical complexes. One of these complexes is called Karhait, which means "red water". There are healing springs with hot mineral water here. The water temperature at the outlet of the spring is approximately 80 ° С, but towards the edges of the reservoir it cools down to a temperature of 60 ° С. Of course, you won't want to plunge into such warm water, but it is quite pleasant to steam your feet there.

These mineral springs contain a lot of useful substances, such as magnesium, calcium sulfate, hydrocarbons. However, the main component is iron, which gives the water its characteristic color. She paints travertines in very bright shades - from yellow and orange to red and brown. These terraces resemble large baths, in each of which water accumulates and forms shallow, approximately "ankle-deep" pools. The mineral water of this particular source is credited with rejuvenating properties.

In addition to these thermal springs, there are two more in Karhait. In one of them "striped" water of different shades flows from a low hill. Its temperature is slightly above + 40 ° C, and its speed is 40 liters per second. The second source heals skin diseases and contains sulfuric waters with a temperature of about + 30 ° C.

Local springs heal from a large number of diseases, so Karhait is very popular among the Turks themselves as an excellent healing center. The healing effect of the Karhait mineral waters is considered stronger than that of the springs of the “Cotton Fortress” terraces, so local residents use these travertines much more often and even take water from them.

The village, in the center of which there are multi-colored travertine rocks, is a popular place for the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, gastrointestinal tract, and cardiovascular system. They treat rickets and rheumatism, psoriasis and eczema, lumbago, or simply relieve stress and fatigue. There are a large number of boarding houses in the village, where you can take advantage of medical procedures and improve your health. It uses treatments such as bathing in thermal pools, mud baths and drinking mineral water.
