Description of the attraction
The collection of the historical and art museum and art gallery is located in the princely chambers, the Church of Dmitry-on-the-Blood and other buildings on the territory of the Kremlin. It includes archaeological finds, Old Russian icons, painting of the 18th-20th centuries, sculpture of the 17th-19th centuries, personal belongings and family relics of city residents, and decorative and applied arts.
The exhibits of the museum are placed in showcases, which are carved from linden and have served the museum since the day of its opening. Of particular interest are items related to the tragic events of the murder of Tsarevich Dmitry: a stretcher in which the murdered Tsarevich was transferred to Moscow, an alarm bell returned from exile, a reliquary plaque containing nuts that were in the child's hands at the time of his death, etc. Many rarities of the Museum of Russian Antiquities have been preserved in the princely chambers, including embroidery, covers with the faces of Uglich saints, a collection of tiles.
