The New Matsesta Aquarium, located along Cheltenham Alley, is one of the best establishments of its kind on the entire Black Sea coast. The aquarium opened its doors to visitors in 2005. The total area of the aquarium and zoo exhibition expositions is more than 1000 square meters. m. Here is a large collection of aquatic inhabitants of all continents and oceans.
In the aquarium and the zoo, you can see aggressive and dangerous animals delegated from Africa - the hippopotamus and the Nile crocodile. Stopud beauty hippo Frida is famous for her good disposition and remarkable ability to learn. Unlike her, the Nile crocodile is not distinguished by kindness or good behavior. Not far from the Nile crocodile is its no less aggressive, but larger congener - a three-meter black caiman named Gosha. The South American continent is also represented by such unique animals as Humboldt penguins, bloodthirsty piranhas, various types of pythons and iguanas, the favorite fish of the Brazilian Indians - arapaima, motoro stingrays, cichlids and others.
Among the inhabitants of the tropical seas in the aquarium you can see various predatory fish - sharks, moray eels and groupers, clown fish loved by children, funny angel fish, butterfly fish, surgeon fish, lionfish, fox fish, dog fish and others exotic fish. Other underwater inhabitants of this establishment are sea urchins and shrimps, colorful corals and anemones, starfish, trepangs and jellyfish.
The aquarium also features the inhabitants of the Black Sea - these are sturgeons, slabs, mullets, green-whales, shimmering in different colors, red mullet, scary scorpion ruffs, sea cocks, the famous Black Sea rapan and mussels.
The pride of the zoo's collection are the inhabitants of the "cold seas" - these are northern fur seals, seals, a lion seal and a walrus. The audience's favorite six-year-old walrus Gavryusha pleases visitors with his performances. He can play the pipe, greet the audience with an "air" kiss, dance and even inflate balloons. Also, seals - Mishka, Bonya and Tyson - can demonstrate their talents.
In the aquarium and zoo Matsesta, various holidays for children are regularly held - contests and quizzes. Worthy prizes are awarded to the winners.
