Description of the attraction
Aquaworld Aquarium (full name - Aquaworld Aquarium and Reptile Rescue Center) is a relatively small but very interesting aquarium near the town of Hersonissos, Crete. It is one of the main attractions of the island and one of the three aquariums in Greece.
Aquarium "Aquaworld" was founded in 1995 at the initiative of the Scotsman John Bruce McLaren and the financial support of the patron Kostas Papadakis. The main feature of this aquarium is that it was created as a haven for sea creatures in trouble. However, even today a significant part of his pets are either rescued living creatures, or former pets, which for one reason or another were abandoned by their owners. The owners of "Aquaworld" managed to create excellent conditions for their "pupils", as close as possible to their natural habitat, but most importantly, they managed to surround them with care and boundless love. Today the Aquaworld Aquarium is home to various species of fish, turtles, pythons, snakes, iguanas, etc.
A visit to the Aquaworld Aquarium will be a great pleasure for both adults and children. Here you can not only observe the local inhabitants, but also feed them, and even stroke and hold some of them, and, of course, take some great photos in memory of this amazing place, where a lot of positive emotions are guaranteed to you.
Aquarium "Aquaworld" is open to the public every day from April 1 to October 31.
