Description of the attraction

Water is the cradle of life, and at the same time it is an alien world, a different environment, another planet where everything is not so. "All Gods and living beings arose in the stream of the Ocean that washes the whole world … The sun, moon and stars descended into it in the evening and rose from it in the morning … It had no beginning or end, for it was born out of itself and poured into itself …"

Today it is possible to touch the miracle, plunge into the many-sided ocean fairy tale in the largest Oceanarium in Russia - Sochi Discovery World Aquarium, which opened on December 26, 2009 in Sochi, the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The Oceanarium exposition has no analogues in Russia and is able to compete with the best oceanariums in the world. The author of the project is the investment company ATEX International SEZ (UAE), which has extensive experience in the creation of oceanariums, exhibition centers, entertainment complexes around the world. Specialists and consultants from Australia, China, New Zealand and other countries took part in the design and equipping of the oceanarium. On the territory of 6000 square meters there are 30 aquariums with a total volume of 5 mil. liters of water. About 4 thousand fish live here, representing more than 200 marine and freshwater species. The exposition also has a unique acrylic window with an area of 28 square meters and an acrylic tunnel 44 meters long, which is absolutely safe and exciting to be in, creating the effect of presence and a feeling of contact between visitors and marine life.

The first exposition is dedicated to ancient fish species. Goldfish in four connecting aquariums are stunning in their brightness and beauty. In open aquariums, koi carps scurry about and massive arowanas, pacu and other representatives of the freshwater depths swim slowly. One of the features of this area is a picturesque waterfall, which can be seen by going to the bridge that runs through the reservoir.

The exposition of the transitional period of the ancient sea, where the atmosphere of time is created with the help of thematic frescoes and three-dimensional models, presents labyrinth fish and piranhas. Aquariums inhabited by rare fish species, including Chinese paddlefish and sturgeon, round off this exhibition.

Going down the stairs, you plunge from the freshwater world into the ocean world. The combination of two coastal and cliff aquariums showcases the diversity of marine life: moray eels, eels and wrasses, from dangerous and poisonous fish, cute seahorses, jellyfish and live corals.

The most impressive and unforgettable part of the exposition is a walk inside a transparent acrylic tunnel under the water column, where representatives of the sea depths living from the Amazon to South America live their serene life! In the course of movement in the tunnel of the Oceanarium, a rocky reef suddenly appears, followed by a grotto with a sunken ship, inside which mermaids swim. The expanses of the open sea and the inhabitants of the deep sea swimming around, especially the formidable sharks, will forever leave an indelible impression.

The journey through the Oceanarium ends with a lagoon inhabited by stingrays and small marine representatives, as well as an open aquarium, where the inhabitants of the coastal zone are represented.

In the future, the investor plans to expand the exposition by supplying new species of exotic inhabitants of freshwater reservoirs and sea depths.

Walking on the bottom of the ocean, is that possible? Yes, now it has become real, together with Sochi Discovery World Aquarium!

The impressions of visiting the aquarium will stay with you for life. You will certainly want to share your emotions with your loved ones and return to the underwater kingdom more than once.
