Description of the attraction
Vinagora is a church built in honor of the Virgin Mary, located near Krapina. The name Vinagora comes from the vineyards located in this area for many centuries.
On the site of the church in the 16th century, a statue of Mary was erected, which was revered as the Mother of God of Vinagorskaya. Peasants came here to rest and pray in between work. To prevent the statue from suffering from bad weather, a special canopy was erected. People from remote areas began to come for prayer and worship, and among them were not only the poor.
The news of the wonderful statue spread more and more widely, and soon a chapel was built here, and the statue was installed inside. The number of pilgrims increased and soon two side chapels and a stone wall around the perimeter of the holy place were completed. So Vinagora received the shape of a cross and its current appearance and size. From both sides, stone stairs rise to the building, leading to the entrance to the temple.
Vinagora became famous not only for its large parish, but also for its priests. For a long time, parish priests replaced each other and worked to support the parish and the church itself.
During the existence of the parish, many religious and cultural organizations have been created that have improved the daily life of the parishioners. The parish even published its own magazine. Today Vinagora is also open to believers and is the local center of spiritual and cultural life.
