Description of the attraction

Movie World is one of the most popular theme parks on the Gold Coast of Australia. Opened in June 1991, it is still the only cinematic park in the country. On its territory you can find characters from famous films and "Hollywood stars" - Batman, Austin Powers, Marilyn Monroe, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes and others. It also hosts street mini-shows and performances by artists. Interestingly, some scenes were filmed here for real films, such as Houses of Wax, Scooby-Doo, Peter Pan, Ghost Ship and The Condemned.

Construction of the park, which was attended by Disneyland's designers, began in 1989 and was completed just 16 months later, transforming the marshland into an entertainment complex modeled on the transatlantic parks of Universal Studios Hollywood and Disney's Hollywood Studios. At its opening, instead of a red ribbon, a film was cut, and Clint Eastwood was among the guests. Mel Gibson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

The very first rides in the park talked about how films are made and what happens on the set. On the opening day, visitors could watch a special effects show, visit the set of a western and the legendary "Police Academy", learn about the adventures of gremlins and the discoveries of young Einstein. In 2008, a roof with an area of 4,000 m2 was erected over the park, which made it possible to receive visitors in any weather. Today Movie World regularly hosts a variety of social events such as Halloween or Christmas parties. In 2010, a 4-D attraction "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was opened in the park.
