Description of the attraction
On August 14, 2009, on the main street of Saratov (Kirov Avenue), a bronze young man with flowers was placed, waiting for his beloved under the clock. The sculptor's idea was to immortalize the song "There are so many golden lights on the streets of Saratov", which is already considered the city's national anthem. But either the author of the composition (the Saratov sculptor Nikolai Bunin) decided to play a trick on the customers, or in the process of agreement they lost the very idea, the sculpture acquired a completely different semantic load …
Having withstood criticism and guarded all the passions around the "wrong monument", the sculpture began to enjoy success among guests of Saratov and young girls. Since Kirov Avenue is a treasure trove of Saratov sights, tourists simply cannot pass by and not take a picture "arm in arm" with a bronze groom.
People who more or less know the prehistory of the monument call it "Bunin's joke" because of the history with the "face" of the sculpture. The guy's appearance, namely, his face, when agreed upon, had classic proportions, an open look and a pleasant smile. But when the sculpture cast from bronze appeared in Saratov (it was cast in Moscow), the guy turned out to have a completely different face - one to one sculptor in his youth!
