Description of the attraction
The State Museum of Serralbo, located in Madrid on Via Ventura Rodriguez, can be safely called one of the most significant cultural places in the city. The building that houses the museum was the private property of its founder, Enrique de Aguilera y Gamboa, 17th Marquis de Serralbo. From a very young age, the Marquis showed a remarkable interest in various works of art. Traveling a lot, he bought paintings, some of which were truly priceless, as well as souvenirs, figurines, coins, glass and ceramics, and much more. All this formed the basis of the collection, exhibited today in the Cerralbo Museum and numbering more than 50 thousand exhibits, which the marquis handed over to the state along with the house.
Today, visitors to the Serralbo Museum can admire the beautiful paintings of Spanish artists El Greco, Francisco de Zurbaran, Alonso Cano, Luis Melendez, Bartolome Gonzalez and others. Italian painting in the museum is represented by works by Bronzino, Tintoretto, Giovanni Batista, Sebastian Ricci and others. In addition, here you can see several works by Frans Snyders and a beautiful portrait of Marie de Medici by Van Dyck.
In addition, the Cerralbo Museum exhibits magnificent collections of weapons and armor, coins, ceramics, porcelain, and glass.
