Description of the attraction
The Sheikh Muslihiddin Mosque is a large religious complex that includes a Mausoleum, a minaret (built in the 19th century) and several tombs. It is located in the old center of Khujand. The mosque is named after the poet and healer Muslihiddin Khujandi, who ruled the city in the 12th century. The mosque, which faces Shark Street, was built in the early 16th century on the foundations of the Sheikh's mausoleum. Ivan passes by thirty columns in the eastern part into a closed winter room, which is supported by twenty columns. Most of the walls on the south side of Shark Street are without openings, blind, there is only one deep portal.
In the upper part of the columns and near the entrance inside the building, as well as on the three wooden squares that decorate the ceiling, there are traces of ancient painting. The massive entrance doors and interior wall surfaces are decorated with exquisite carvings. For the construction of the mosque, frame technology was used with filling the walls with unfired brick and subsequent plastering.
For tourists, the entrance to the complex is free, although the complex is often closed due to the lack of visitors.
