The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy opened in Moscow in August 2008. This is the only calligraphy museum in the world. His collection includes works of the best calligraphers from 40 countries of the world. The National Union of Calligraphers, the Sokolniki Exhibition Center and the International Exhibition Company MVK took part in the creation of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The museum is a member of the International Council of Museums, the European Museum Forum and the American Association of Museums. The exhibition activities of the young museum are fully supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The International Exhibition of Calligraphy, which took place in the Moscow Museum in 2009, was held under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

The collection of the museum is numerous and varied. The exhibits displayed in the halls of the museum are designed in accordance with the laws of visual perception. The museum exhibits the most unique examples of writing - world-class masterpieces. The exposition contains excellent examples of European and Slavic writing. Fine, subtle examples of Hebrew and Arabic calligraphy, as well as strict Japanese calligraphy. Samples of ancient Chinese writing introduce the history of the emergence of the art of calligraphy. The exposition tells about the art of calligraphy as one of the facets of fine art.

The museum has a large and varied collection of writing instruments from different times. Here you can get acquainted with rare handwritten editions, issued in piece editions, as well as domestic and foreign books on the art of calligraphy.

The museum is engaged in the creation of a creative environment within its walls. Visitors have the opportunity to communicate with the authors of the works. Here you can exchange new information and share your impressions.

The museum holds group calligraphic performances. Since 2010, a calligraphic school has been operating at the museum - the National School of the Art of Beautiful Writing. The tasks of the school include the development of skills in using various writing instruments, as well as acquaintance with the art of calligraphy. Various exhibitions and master classes are held regularly. Master classes are conducted by well-known, recognized Russian masters of beautiful writing and foreign virtuosos of calligraphy.
