Description of the attraction
On the border of Argentina with Brazil and Paraguay is the famous Iguazu National Park, which covers an area of 55 thousand hectares. The park is considered one of the modern wonders of the world - these are 275 waterfalls, pouring 5000 cubic meters of water per second from a height of 70 meters. It has preserved thousands of species of exotic birds, butterflies and unique tropical vegetation. Nearby are the ruins of the Jesuit missions, of particular interest is San Ignacio Mini, a "Guarani Baroque" church. Above the waterfalls, there are convenient places for water sports.
Millions of tons of falling, swirling and spraying water give rise to amazing multicolored rainbows in the rays of the sun. Molten silver of boiling water, mysterious flickering of light, primal power combined with grace, a symphony of water jets merged together and performed by an unprecedented organ created by nature, the Eternity of the Universe - that's what Iguazu is. The desire to preserve the pristine power and beauty of the waterfalls for posterity has led to the formation of reserves on the territory of neighboring states - Iguazu National Parks. On the part of Brazil, 180 thousand hectares are reserved, this is the largest in Brazil and one of the largest reserves in the world. On the Argentine side, in the province of Misiones, there is a national park of the same name with an area of 55 thousand hectares. Several hotels, bars, restaurants and an airfield have been built near the waterfalls, a village has grown with 6 thousand inhabitants, busy serving tourists who come from all over the world.
In the Iguazu reserves, palm trees grow, an iron tree - kebracho, monkeys, tapirs, hummingbirds, rare butterflies the size of a saucer and unthinkable colors live. The lush flora of the tropics is a magnificent setting for the waterfalls, not to mention the fact that the water rushes down there from the reddish basalt cliffs.
