Description of the attraction

The literary-memorial museum of the master of Russian Soviet prose and academician S. N. Sergeev-Tsensky was opened in Alushta in May 1962 in the house where he lived from 1906 to 1941 and from 1946 to 1958. Arriving in 1905 in Alushta, the writer bought a piece of land on the slope of the Eagle Mountain near the city. SN Sergeev-Tsenskoy developed his own project, according to which he built in 1906 his house, which consisted of a veranda and three rooms, and later cypress alleys and fruit trees were planted.

During the Great Patriotic War, the entire archive and most of the writer's library were taken to Germany, the house was destroyed, and the garden was almost completely cut down. Having decided to settle in Alushta again, SN Sergeev-Tsensky in 1944 began to restore his house, adding two more verandas and two rooms to it. He also planted a new garden and three beautiful cypress avenues that have survived to this day.

In this house, the writer created the most famous works that were included in the treasury of Soviet literature, among them: the epics "Sevastopol Passion" and "Transformation of Russia" and many other works. Having lived in Alushta for almost half a century, SN Sergeev-Tsensky, after his death, was buried in the park, next to his house.

In the funds of the literary-memorial museum there are about 20 thousand museum exhibits: manuscripts, documents, books, magazines, archival materials, personal belongings of the writer. The exposition of the museum is presented in two sections: literary and memorial. The literary exposition, located on the eastern and western verandas, introduces the life and work of the Russian writer, tells about his friends, students and meetings that took place in this house. In the rooms of the house (study, library, room of X. Sergeeva-Tsenskaya's wife, living room, dining room), on the southern veranda, the furnishings created during the writer's life are fully preserved - this is the memorial department of the museum.

The Alushta literary and memorial museum of S. N. Sergeev-Tsensky is the only museum in our country that contains almost everything related to the life and work of the outstanding writer.
