Description of the attraction
Zaporozhye Children's Railway is an institution for out-of-school education of children in Zaporozhye. The Children's Railway was opened in May 1972. A diesel locomotive TU2-077 and a steam locomotive Kp4-456, as well as five cars, were delivered for its operation. The movement of trains was organized with the help of telephone communication, and later with an electric rail system. At the stop, which was the final one, the electric locomotive turned around thanks to special arrows and again stood in the head of the train.
Three stations Oktyabrskaya, Sportivnaya and Yunykh Chapaevtsev station were created. The main station was Oktyabrskaya. They built a railway station and a two-barrel locomotive depot.
Later, the Children's Railway will be formed as an independent subdivision of the Pridneprovskaya railway. Raisa Kozak was the director of this division.
In 1973, the second part of the road was laid, which closed into a loop and at the same time its length increased to 10 km, and the Oktyabrskaya station became the final one. Today the Children's Railway is located 500 meters from the Zaporozhye railway station.
The narrow-gauge road greets its guests with a small exhibit train. It is still functioning and small trains run on its rails. The road runs mainly through wetlands with a great many islands and channels. The movement on the children's railway does not stop in winter.
The length of the main path of the road is 8.6 km, and the total length is 9.4 km. There are 1 station and 7 platforms for passengers. Also, the road passes through a tunnel 80 meters long, flights are carried out quite often.
