The Chocolate Museum is a private museum in Barcelona, initiated by the local confectioners' guild in 2000 in a former convent. The size of the museum is impressive - its area is 600 square meters. m. The inhabitants of Catalonia are incredibly proud of their chocolate museum.
By visiting the museum, you can learn about the history of the appearance of chocolate in Europe, about how the Spanish conquistador Cortez entered the lands of Mexico, about how the local people - the Aztecs presented him with a wonderful drink from cocoa beans - chocolate, which produced a great impression. It was Cortez and his conquistadors who brought chocolate to Spain. Aztec chocolate was bitter, because pepper was added to it. The Spaniards also came up with adding sugar, vanilla and nutmeg to it, thereby creating a chocolate recipe close to the modern one. Thus, the Spaniards consider themselves to be the pioneers of chocolate for Europeans.
The museum tells about the methods of processing chocolate, about its useful properties. You can also admire a real exhibition of chocolate products, which presents chocolate copies of outstanding architectural structures (Sagrada Familia, Casa Amatlle, etc.), life stories, cartoon characters and more.
There is also an opportunity to visit a real chocolate shop and try to make a chocolate figurine yourself under the guidance of a professional pastry chef.
And, of course, the chocolate museum cannot do without a cafe, where visitors are offered to taste incredibly tasty products and drinks made from this wonderful product.
