Description of the attraction

One of the sights of Perm awaits guests of the city a few steps from the railway station. The garden of stones, or the square of the 250th anniversary of Perm, has been located on the station square since 1973 and is officially considered a branch of the open-air museum of the Geological Faculty of Perm State University. The museum exposition consists of a unique collection of rocks formed on the territory of the Perm Territory and found only in the Urals. Stones of various shapes and sculptures carved from rocks are laid out on manicured lawns along park paths with benches.

In the year the park was founded, a high three-sided stele with bas-reliefs by K. M. Sobakin was installed nearby. From 2010 to 2011, the rock garden was completely reconstructed, adding several beautiful landscape and architectural objects. The art object "Perm Gate", which is a twelve-meter structure made of spruce logs, is especially popular with guests of the city. The "gates" of the artist Nikolai Polissky are made in the form of a volumetric letter "P" and resemble a triumphal arch, from which the four cardinal directions serve. Another original composition of the garden attracts attention - a sculpture of a scarab beetle made of car tires on a metal frame. The art object "Scarab" with a four-meter ball was made by the artist Moldakul Narymbetov and is (according to the creator) an ancient symbol of the sun and rebirth.

The Perm Rock Garden is not only a meeting place for unique and original objects, but also a favorite resting place for the townspeople. The park has two fountains and cozy places created by the best landscape designers in the city.
