Description of the attraction
One of the most interesting museums in Tashkent is the State Museum of the History of the Temurids, dedicated to this famous Central Asian dynasty of rulers. The museum first opened its doors to visitors not so long ago - in 1996, but it already possesses a huge collection of historical artifacts related to the era of Timur (Tamerlane) and his descendants.
The shape of the museum building resembles a nomad's yurt. It is crowned with a large dome. The exposition is located in exhibition halls located on three floors. The upper two floors are dedicated exclusively to the personalities of the ancient rulers, their relatives and confidants. The halls are richly decorated with marble and gilding. The walls are decorated with paintings depicting scenes from the life of the Temurids. The hall is illuminated by a huge chandelier with crystal trimmings.
Among the treasures of the museum, it is worth noting a superbly made copy of the valuable Koran of Uthman and a panel, consisting of three parts, which depicts the life of Tamerlane.
If visitors to the museum have little time, then you can carefully examine only some of the halls dedicated, for example, to the development of writing in Uzbekistan or the history of the Shokhrukhia fortress. The museum has a good selection of paintings by various painters. These paintings depict Timur, his feats of arms, scenes from the life of his descendants, representatives of the Timurid dynasty. Of great interest are the collection of coins of that time, a collection of manuscripts where the name of Tamerlane is mentioned, carpets, weapons, uniforms of warriors, decorations, devices from the Ulugbek observatory and much more.
