Description of the attraction
The State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature was founded on November 6, 1987 in the most beautiful district of Minsk - Troitsky Suburb. The museum's fund contains unique collections of documents, manuscripts, photographs related to Belarusian literature from the emergence of writing to the present day. The scale of the materials collected over such a period of time is striking.
Among the exhibits: archaeological finds of the XII-XVII centuries, printed books of the Vilna printing house, Nesvizh printing house of the Radziwills, books of the Polotsk Jesuit Academy, lifetime editions of such famous Belarusian writers as Y. Luchina, V. Dunin-Martsinkevich, A. Pashkevich, materials on the activities of literary associations of Belarus, about the life and work of famous Belarusian writers of the XX century. It contains unique documents, photographs, personal belongings of Belarusian writers and poets. The museum also displays works by Belarusian artists and sculptors.
In several museum halls, an exposition of ancient objects, utensils, clothes, and works of folk crafts is presented. These exhibits help to visually study the history of the native land and imagine how the Belarusian people lived in the old days.
The State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature carries out constant educational work, organizes new expositions dedicated to the work of outstanding national writers and poets. The museum organizes holidays, competitions, literary evenings, lectures, interactive performances based on Belarusian literary works for adults and schoolchildren.
