Description of the attraction
The picturesque island of Paros is located in the Aegean Sea and is part of the Cyclades archipelago. Paros is famous for its many gorgeous beaches and beautiful coves.
Golden Beach (Chrysi Akti) is considered one of the best beaches on the island and is located on its southeast coast. It got its name from the fine yellow sand that covers the beach. Its tiny crystalline particles reflect sunlight to create an interesting shimmering effect. The length of the beach is approximately 700 m. There is a small village of the same name nearby.
Golden Beach, like many Greek beaches, has been awarded an honorary "blue flag". Pleasant fine sand and crystal-clear waters, as well as easy entry into the water, make this place quite popular. Since there is no natural shade here, it is better to rent a sun umbrella and sun lounger. There are also bars and restaurants on the beach serving traditional Greek cuisine. There is a fairly good selection of hotels and apartments in this part of the island, so there should be no problems with accommodation, but it is still better to book places in advance. Getting to Golden Beach is quite easy, as there is a regular bus service to the main settlements of the island.
Golden Beach is popular with windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts as it is famous for its ideal windy conditions. Every year in August, the World Surfing Championship is held here, which attracts many famous surfers of world renown. For amateur beginners who want to try their hand at this sport, there are surfing schools. There are also clubs for surfers, as well as rental of special equipment.
