Waiheke Island (or Waiheke) is one of the most beautiful and one of the most populous islands in New Zealand. Weihehe is located in Hauraki Bay, part of the city of Auckland, is 18 km away. From him.
"Waiheke" is translated from the Maori language as "cascading waters". The island is famous for its sandy beaches with crystal clear emerald water, as well as for the production of high quality wine known throughout the world.
The island is so beautiful that many artists have chosen it as their home. Here you can see the magnificent works of the best masters: paintings, sculptures, ceramics. The island has the Weihehe Art Community Gallery. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping and supporting the visual arts and crafts. The Gallery exhibits works by local, national and international artists. Their paintings can be bought at reasonable prices and even get small gifts.
Vaiheke beaches deserve special attention. Regardless of the personal preferences of the traveler regarding a beach holiday, there is everything here: quiet secluded coves, and large crowded beaches, and windy beaches with big waves, and quiet backwaters, rocky or sandy beaches. Here you can find a huge number of water activities, coastal cafes and shops, stunning views of the sea or Auckland - in short, everything that a beach lover could wish for.

On the east side is Man O 'War Bay - the most beautiful bay for anchorage of ships, boats and yachts.
The soil in Vaihik is especially good for growing grapes. The first vineyard in Waihek was established in 1977. Nowadays, many wineries are scattered throughout the island. Many offer tasting of their wines, and even open restaurants so that travelers can fully enjoy the wonderful drink. The island produces wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and, more recently, began making Chardonnay. Tourist routes most often pass through Mudbrick Wineries, Ridgeview Estate and Te Whau.
In addition to art, beach recreation and wine, the island has many other attractions: the Connells Bay sculpture park, Ostend market, a sightseeing flight from Vaikehe airfield, a WWII building with tunnels, firing points, a command post, etc., the beautiful Te Whau garden with tropical plants, a historical village and a music museum, where you can see shows with various musical instruments.
The island can be reached from Auckland by plane, helicopter or ferry.
